Redmi Go, the Android One device by Xiaomi. Simple and impressive...

Finally after wait for a long time, Xiaomi India launched their most affordable Redmi device who's price has kept for ₹4,499 (65$) and runs on Oreo 8.1 based Android Go operating system. The brand has given adequate looks and design for the price at what it comes.

Let's explore the device and start with the Display and back. The back panel of the device is actually plastic but gives very premium touch when in hands. And the display is a 5.0" (12.7 cm) TFT LCD panel of a typical 1280 x 720 px. HD resolution, with normal basic 16:9 aspect ratio. The display is vibrant and produces a very great picture quality when outdoors, the display provides a poor response, but it's okay and usually not much of a problem these days.

The internals of the device seems legit, as you get massive 3000 mAh battery, which should give a backup of at least a day and stand-by time of more than a day. Obviously it does not comes with USB Type-C and fast charging, but still charging time in this device is around 2-3 hours for 0-100%. Not bad, for a 4,500 phone.

As this device runs on Android Oreo 8.1 GO platform, you get lite versions of all Google apps, and some what features of Oreo full version too. Where for hardware, you get Snapdragon's 425 Quad Core processor of 1.4 GHz. Coupled with 1GB RAM and 8GB internal storage, but with Redmi Go you get a dedicated SD card slot, so you can expand the memory upto 128GB.

With a dual pyrolytic graphite sheets, helps your device to warm up less frequently, also as it does not has any fingerprint sensor, you do get a trust-worthy facial unlock. Going to camera department, Redmi Go has 8MP sensor with f/2.0 and lens size of 1.12µ on the rear side, and on front side, it's a 5MP sensor with f/2.2 and 1.12µ lens size. It's really optimized to click various scenes with beautiful colors as it's having Smart Scene Selection and HDR both. You can judge the samples better from below-

So, how are the samples taken from Redmi Go? For me the camera is average and can perform well only when there is good lighting, as it gives terrible noisy shots at night. I'll rate around 5.5/10 for the camera. But let's sum up the total specs, great processor, big battery, latest android version (kind of :P), and most important factor, the " ₹4,499 " price tag. For us the complete package rating would be around 7.0/10. So not sure if you should go with this device, but surely recommend you if you are looking for a secondary smartphone and use on a temporary basis. The Redmi Go is going on-sale on Flipkart.com from 22nd March 2019, you can get one if you are interested.
